Kristin

Meet Kristin, a first time single mother with no nearby family support, but thriving in her breastfeeding journey.

I'm Kristin, mom to Solana, who was born the end of August 2021. We’ve been nursing a little over 8 months.

I started breastfeeding in the delivery room, and although she didn't really latch on at first, we did get good skin-to-skin mommy and me time. I hoped for the best outcome, which fortunately did happen for me (and it can happen for you too!). I didn't get help at the hospital except for about 2 minutes with a pediatric nurse, so if it weren't for the Le Leche League videos, the book the Womanly Art of Breastfeeding, and support from our local group I may have given up right away.

I have two words for you: hand expression. Learning about it before delivery and using it was what got me nursing her in those first days. I am a single mother, without the support of family nearby, so La Leche League has been a great source to turn to for help and friendship.

My favorite nursing spot has evolved from the recliner to our shared bed now.
