Hello all! I’m Cecelia. I’m mom to a 10 month old baby boy. I was a little nervous that breastfeeding wouldn’t come naturally to me; but, I intentionally surrounded myself with incredible women to support me in my early postpartum period.

My midwife and birth assistant were so encouraging and helped me to try several different breastfeeding positions to make sure I felt comfortable and confident. My sister stayed with me for the first few days after my son was born and shared lots of tips and tricks too. I know that being surrounded by breastfeeding advocates played a huge role in my positive experience.

La Leche League has been working so hard in the background of my life for over a decade. They really sparked a shift in my sister’s view on breastfeeding years ago resulting in her nursing her babies whenever she wanted, wherever she wanted, for as long as she wanted, for the last twelve years. It turned out LLL was normalizing breastfeeding for me long before I ever considered having my own children.

So when it came time for me to leave the house with my newborn baby alone for the very first time, attending a La Leche League meeting only made sense. I knew everyone would be welcoming and supportive and that I’d learn a few things too!

Probably my favorite place I’ve nursed has been at a local vineyard that has a raspberry patch and a view of the smoky mountains!
